Southend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVS) have a charity shop in Alexandra Street in Southend that urgently needs donations so they were thrilled when Alleyn Court Preparatory School stepped up to help!
Anne Crabb a teacher from the school arranged a week of collections at the school and invited Dan Turpin and Emily Middlemast to come and speak to the children about the work that SAVS does in Southend. SAVS is an independent charity known as a CVS that means they work behind the scenes to help local charities and community groups achieve their full potential. The talk had the desired effect! When they arrived to collect the donations a couple of days later, they were so pleased to see so many bags of toys, clothes, books and bric a brac – they could hardly get it all in the van!
Dan said, “This couldn’t have come at a better time. We rely on funds from our shop to help support the work we do in the community.”
Emily said, “The shop needs donations on a regular basis, if your school, company or group would like to hold a collection for SAVS Charity Shop we would love to hear from you!”
The shop is open Monday – Saturday 9.30-4.30 and donations can be dropped off during these times. If you have a lot of donations, please call 01702 356000 to arrange for collection.
