Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Training

I am pleased to announce the launch by Active Essex and the Local Delivery Pilot (LDP) of a new online Discover Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) training programme, designed to equip people at all levels across Essex with the knowledge and skills they need in Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD).

The value of strong and connected communities has never been greater. Physical activity can play a significant role in shaping places and building communities. Putting communities at the heart of policy and decision making is now a priority for many organisations. It is vital to bring local communities together, create identity, and develop the social capacity that builds belonging, resilience, and inclusivity.

The course is made up of 8 online modules that require a commitment to attend eight 90 minute interactive Zoom sessions and approximately an additional 10 hours to read and watch the course materials. Each course is run over a two month period and the dates for the first course are every Tuesday from 2.00-3.30 p.m. starting on the 9th February until March 30th.

The cost of the course is £230 which will be fully covered by Active Essex and the Essex Local Delivery Pilot (LDP).

There are a maximum of 20 attendees per course. There are 5 courses available in 2021.

The training programme is provided by Active Essex and the Essex Physical Activity Local Delivery Pilot and is therefore targeted at people who value the role that physical activity can play in building stronger communities.

The training will be delivered by our partner Nurture Development. A video about the 8-module course can be viewed here. Further information about the content of the course can be found here.

We are accepting registrations for the first course now. This will be undertaken on a first come, first served basis. Places are limited and the maximum attendees per course is 20. The dates for the first course are:

Course 1: February 9th – March 30th (every Tuesday 2-3:30pm )
