The Haven Community Hub, Westcliff hosted a unique fundraising event on Friday 21st October, welcoming over 60 people to virtual race night in aid of Age Concern Southend.

Eight films of horse races were shown throughout the evening where people were able to place bets at a tote table on horses and jockeys.

Emily Tucker, Operations Manager at Age Concern Southend, said “Thank you to everybody who turned to support our first-ever race night and to the staff who put so much work into creating a new event for our community – the evening was such a great success. We would like to thank Dorothy and Keith for running the evening and Esl Technology Group for loaning us the equipment.”

Race sponsors included SoSewByZoe Suzi’s Dreams, KB Cafe, Havens Department Store, HB Partners, Wills & Estate Planning Ltd and Clare and Sarah from the Hub team. Asda Shoeburyness donated snacks and Chelmsford Races, The Roslin Hotel and Margaret Raymond Florist donated raffle prizes. A real community effort for a local independent charity working to improve the lives of our elderly community.”
