Chief Executive – Youthbuild

Chief Executive – Youthbuild

Chief Executive Full-time, Permanent, Salary £35-40,000, Pension Contribution

Essex Youthbuild is looking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to take the organization to the next level of development.

Essex Youthbuild was originally set up in 2005. We became a Registered Charity and a Company Limited by Guarantee in June 2008. We are a Chelmsford-based charity working with young people aged 11-19 years old from across Essex, providing training in construction skills, health and safety, and functional skills (maths and English) leading to accredited qualifications.
Youthbuild provides mentoring and support to these young people who are frequently multiply disadvantaged with many not ‘succeeding’ at school. These young people often lead chaotic home lives, have few positive adult influences and may have special educational needs, physical disabilities or social, emotional or mental health issues. We work with mainstream and special schools, pupil referral units, and referrers for our 16+ courses include social workers, local authorities, the Youth Offending Service, supported housing and other charities.

The Role

The Chief Executive and Centre Manager has overall responsibility for the organization and reports to the Charity Trustees.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of both operational and strategic leadership within the charitable sector, relationship building, successful income generation and financial control as well as the capacity to motivate and inspire.

The Chief Executive takes responsibility for building meaningful and influential relationships with key local and county stakeholders, and for ensuring that Youthbuild fulfils its statutory, regulatory and contractual responsibilities and delivers effective outcomes for the young people of Essex.

Working with a committed group of Trustees you will be a capable, energetic, sensitive and creative leader who has recent and extensive experience of working at a senior level within the Voluntary sector. There will also be a specific requirement to provide vision and direction for the organisation post the current COVID-19 response, building on the current momentum of volunteer and community responses. You need to be equally happy working alone and as an effective team player providing strong line management and supports and will need to be comfortable leading and representing the organisation at key county wide engagement processes and committees.

If you have a passion for working with a great team who make a real difference for young people across Essex, please send us your cover letter and CV by 5pm June 24th 2020.

NB: only candidates selected for interview will be contacted and interviews will take place via zoom on June 29th or 30th
