We are seeking to recruit a Communications and Marketing Assistant for our A Better Start Southend Programme and you might be the person we need!  In 2014, the Early Years Alliance, in partnership with Southend Borough Council, was awarded £40m by the National Lottery Community Fund to innovate and develop interventions to improve the life chances of over 13,000 babies and young children across Southend-on-Sea over a 10-year period.

The  Early Years Alliance is the largest early years membership organisation and voluntary sector provider of quality affordable childcare and education in England. An educational charity, the Alliance represents the interests of over 14,000 member settings who deliver care and learning to over 800,000 families every year.
This role will have a hybrid working arrangement of a minimum of 2 days in the office. This arrangement will be agreed with your line manager once established into the role.

Main duties:

  • Assist with the content for and delivery of the ABSS website, including:
    • ensuring that web content is relevant, up to date and reflects good UX principles
    • taking responsibility for web page editing processes
    • monitoring website analytics.
  • Assist the communications and marketing team in ensuring that the services and activities delivered by individual partners are effectively presented on ABSS channels.
  • Secure delivery of ABSS messages through partner channels where appropriate. Specifically ensure that details of the ABSS Programme, and events associated with the Programme, are listed on www.livewellsouthend.com.
  • Create and schedule content for social media platforms sharing relevant news, events and partner updates from the weekly social media plan and collect social media analytics weekly to improve our performance on these channels.
  • Work with the Communications and Marketing Officer to create monthly newsletters.
  • Assist the Communications and Marketing Officer in the development and implementation of promotional and social marketing plans.

Essential criteria:

  • Excellent literacy skills and good attention to detail.
  • Efficient skills in use of Canva, Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint and Word and Excel.
  • Proven experience of managing social media sites (especially Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn).
  • Good customer services skills including dealing effectively and courteously with telephone calls, emails and written correspondence.
  • Ability to resolve issues creatively and in a timely manner.
Hours per week: 18.75
Weeks per year:  52
Contract: Fixed Term for 12 months – with possible option to extend
