Southend Carers has provided a range of support services for Carers in Southend-on-Sea for over 20 years. We are now Lead Partner for the Southend Carers Consortium, a new partnership of several local charities, who have joined together to support the Southend Borough Council strategy plan in creating a one-stop-shop support service.
Our main aims are to ensure that Carers of all ages in Southend on Sea are:
- able to live healthy lives as regards their emotional and physical well-being by offering counselling, telephone support, end-of-life emotional support, and contingency planning.
- able to alleviate the social isolation that many feel due to their caring role and responsibilities by referring carers to social groups and activities, and respite providers.
- provided with the latest accurate advice, support & information relating to their needs and the lives of their dependents, including signposting to appropriate services.
Being a family carer can often be very challenging - they are the invisible support army. With so many possible demands being made on them - any time of day and through the night, it can be difficult to find a spare moment for them to think about or focus on their own emotional & physical needs; take a break or access respite from the demands of their caring role or just have in their lives someone they can to talk.
We provide a placement provision for counselling students from local colleges, and offer other volunteer roles.
Southend Carers Hub is a local one-stop-shop offering a range of practical and emotional support services to help carers living in Southend.
