Domestic Abuse Housing Link Worker – Safe Steps

We have a new and exciting opportunity available for a Domestic Abuse Housing Link Worker to join our team based in Southend-on-Sea.  You will join us on a full time basis working 37.5hrs per week including some evenings and weekends as required.

Safe Steps provides early intervention, advocacy, support, crisis intervention, emergency accommodation, therapeutic and recovery services to survivors of domestic abuse in the City of Southend-on-Sea and delivers training to the wider community.

We are looking for a DA Housing Link Worker to join us and work within a dynamic team, providing high quality information, advice and guidance to women, men and children who have experienced domestic abuse, with a victim centred approach, focusing on safety and recovery.  This post will work integrally with Safe Steps and Southend City Council.

The DA Housing Link Worker will work alongside, and play a key role in developing relationships with, the Southend City Council Housing and Homeless Team.  You will play a key role in improving housing outcomes for victims of domestic abuse by supporting and advocating for them specifically in relation to their pathway to safe accommodation.

Knowledge of housing and homelessness law/processes would be advantageous.  Safe Steps are committed to training and development and will fund IDVA Accreditation upon successful completion of probationary period.

Location: Office based in Southend and Westcliff-on-Sea but will be required to travel to sites across the City of Southend-on-Sea.

This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and open to women only. Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR), Schedule 9 (Work; Exceptions), Part 1 (Occupational Requirements) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week to include occasional weekends and evenings.
Salary: NICVA Scale 4 (Non IDVA) or NICVA Scale 5 (IDVA) £21,748 – £24,012
Annual leave: Commencing at 25 days per annum (plus 8 bank holidays)
