Easter Charity Social – Southend In Sight

Southend in Sight is the Community Services Division of Southend Blind Welfare Organisation, an independent charity providing practical help to visually impaired people in and around the Southend-on-Sea area.
The charity’s headquarters in Hamlet Court Road houses a Resource and Information Centre, and a Charity Shop, which raises significant funds to support the Centre. An Equipment Loan Scheme is also offered.

Entertainment and food for Easter social
Southend in Sight recently hosted a fish n chip lunch for 30 visually impaired people and their guests.
Those who attended were accompanied by family members and friends, with entertainment provided by local singer, Marie Saunders. The charity’s volunteers helped guide everyone to their seats, served the meal with refreshments, and even took a turn on the dancefloor with some of the more able members.

Community Engagement Officer, Georgie Haynes, said:

“I really love these events where everyone can get together and enjoy themselves. It was wonderful to witness new friendships being formed and old friends reunited.”
