20 Dec End of year celebration for FLU
The Folk Like Us Christmas Connect Event took place on Friday 6th December at the Royal Naval Association in Prittlewell.
We welcomed sixty new members, many of which have only joined the project earlier this year.
A group of year 2 children from St Mary’s C of E School sang songs from their Christmas nativity. The Folk Like Us members enjoyed a festive buffet and a fantastic raffle which raised money for the Southend Foodbank which will help to feed the homeless over the Christmas period.
Following the day, a lovely telephone message was received from a Folk Like Us member who wanted to thank all involved for a fantastic Folk Like Us Christmas Connect Event. The member said that the Folk Like Us team all work so hard to give a wonderful time to the members and she is sure everyone appreciates it as much as she does. She loved the children singing and just looking at their faces she said was a delight.
In her words it really ‘perked the old girl up’ and it’s like stepping off the world for a little while!
