Community Engagement & Development Headspace
29th July 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Community Mapping and engagement during COVID-19 – focusing on BAME communities
Coronvirus and the lockdown affected all of us in one way or the other and had various impacts on the communities we work with. We have witnessed how community members can pull together but also how inequality can exacerbate impacts on diverse communities.
It’s even more important that we reach all segments of society to communicate essential information about staying safe and well. We need to find new ways to listen to our communities when physical distancing makes it harder to talk together as a group.
Purpose:
At the meeting we will go through a series of activities to:
– map out which communities we work with and gaps
– get an initial sense of the ways our communities were impacted and are adapting
– highlight opportunities for further engagement and input into decision making
Attendees:
Community engagement and development staff – public and community
Community leaders and reps
Background:
The Headspace was created by to bring together staff and community leaders working in the field of community engagement and development. We wanted to network, share our learning, assets and networks to even better support the voice of those we work with to shape local policy, decisions and project. Our first meeting was in February 2020 and we want to continue over the coming months moving our focus between different parts of our society as described in the Equality Act to ensure our practice and engagement with these groups is the best it can be.
To reserve your space, please use the RSVP form below and will send you a link to the Zoom meeting ahead of the day.
