Good News Stories from our Community Builders (28th November – 11th December) – SAVS

Chiquitta Bruce, Milton – Sponsored by Milton Community Partnership & Rob Carvosso, Shoebury – Sponsored by Shoebury Residents Association

Chiquita and Rob spent a very wet day installing little libraries across the Milton ward with Chris Gosling and Jack.

After Chiquita had heard about the little libraries popping up over the city and chatting to St Mark’s Church and Chris from the workshop in West Road Shoebury chatting to the Iron works we decided to join forces. Little libraries are free for anyone young or old to take books and leave books that they have read. The aim is to make reading as accessible as possible and reduce book waste.

Jack makes all the libraries and little pantries so we then set a date and installed them. We first went to a very wet St Marks and then off to the Iron works with Jack to install the other library as Rob cannot be trusted with a drill…

A great team effort that will benefit all different sections of the community.

Tuesday 22nd November was Victoria Ward Ideas Workshop and Small Sparks Launch run by Victoria Ward community builder and sponsor Daniel from St Vincent Du Paul’s. It was well attended by many professionals within Victoria Ward and everyone had their chance to speak about what they do so others can see who they can connect with to make Victoria Ward better for all.

Everyone learned about all the different projects and groups that run within Victoria ward and enjoyed hearing all the positive stories people had to share.

It was a great opportunity to bring everyone together and hear all the amazing things about Victoria Ward.
