Hands Together Southend Against Hatred – Project Southchurch

Following the murder of Sir David Amess we wondered how we could react as a community.

We were thinking of ways to reinforce Southends commitment to tolerance and unity. To send a message of defiance to those who think terror will divide our community.

The idea we came up with is Hands Together, Southend against Hatred. We have identified a location but wait for approval to use the site, which will take a few days.

The idea is simple. A wall, a pot of paint, dip our hands into the paint and place onto the wall. We are grateful to local artist Karl Sims who will be helping us.

We are inviting all Faith and Community organisations within Southend to join us on the day. We will also be joined by the Council, councillors, education outlets, police and local residents.

Please let us know your interest in this project as soon as possible and once we have confirmation we will let you know venue, date and time of the installation. What we can tell you is the site will be amongst the icons on Southend seafront. You can let us know at info.projectsouthchurch@gmail.com

I hope you can join us.
