24 Nov Healthwatch Southend Want to Hear from you on Maternal mental health
Maternal mental health
Healthwatch Southend are working with colleagues across England to collect the views of people who have used maternity services and experienced some mental health issues. Are you being asked about your mental health at the six-week check? Using your stories, we can press for improvements in mental health services at such a crucial time in people’s lives. With one in four women experiencing mental health problems during pregnancy and in the first year following the birth of a child, support from maternity services can significantly impact their mental health and wellbeing. Latest evidence also shows that getting mental health support for new mothers has become harder.
Who we want to hear from:
- People who have been pregnant in the last two years and have experienced mental health difficulties before, during or after giving birth
- People from ethnic minority communities
- LGBTQ+ birthing parents
The survey runs until 13 December and we would be grateful if our partners could promote it widely
