Working on our main site and responsible for the general running of the site, the evening services for homeless and vulnerable people plus our food bank for struggling families.

The role is part-time and based at our Hollybrook site in central Southend and will be for 28 hours per week over a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and remuneration is £11 per hour.

Applicants should have proven leadership and management skills, a keen eye for detail and a desire to work within the Charity environment.

Job Description

Job Title: Hollybrook Site Manager

Reports to: Chief Operations Officer

Overall purpose of the job: The site managers duties and responsibilities will include managing and co-ordinate the day to day operations of the soup kitchen services and the foodbank as well as supporting volunteers to ensure all services are being delivered to a high standard.

Key duties & responsibilities:

  • Site Mangement
  • Ensuring site is tidy and fit for service in line wth health and saftey guidance
  • Liaising with Senior Management to ensure that Risk Assessments are adhered to and any corrective measure put in place
  • Maintaining inventory records and liasing with Senior Management for reordering
  • Ensuring that all equipment on site is fit for purpose and within saftey guidline
  • Monitoring all donations and ensuring they are sorted in to correct location for redistibution
  • Maintaining stock rotation where appropriate
  • Service Management
  • Managing evening and daytime service
  • Ensuring that all required elements for each evening and day time service are ready ahead of service time
  • Working with Team Leaders to ensure briefing and de brief are carried out correctly at each service
  • Working with Senior Management to ensure that additional services are ready at each service (nurse, barber etc)
  • Ensuring food is prepared for evening service by liasing with the kitchen team
  • Ensuring that all service user clothing requirments are prepared in advance
  • Ensuring servie user records are recorded at each service
  • Team Leader & Volunteer Management
  • Carrying out inductions for new volunteers in line with the charities processes
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are being adhered to by all staff and volunteers
  • Ensuring that all Team Leaders and Volunteers are fully aware of risk assessments
  • Managing Sign Up and volunteer numbers on day and evening shifts
  • Working with Senior Mangement to identify and implement areas of improvement
  • To provide cover for Team Leaders holidays


Experience & Skills required:

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and operational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Interest in Not Profit Sector/Charitiable organisations
