15 Jun Jubilee Celebrations – Shoebury Residents’ Association
The Parish Churches of St Andrews and St Peters along with the residents of Hinguar Street held a Platinum Jubilee party to celebrate the Queens 70 year reign on Sunday 5th June.
We had 150 guests attend and we were very lucky that we managed to get an Asda Community Grant of £1000 which paid for all the food, decorations and jubilee party bags for the children, which meant it was free to all who came.
Some weeks before the party we wrote to the Queen in hopes that we might get a reply to read out at the party, and we were very lucky as we did get a reply. The raffle prizes that were kindly donated helped raise money for HARP and Havens Hospice. The amount raised was £270 which included some voluntary donations.
Here are some photos of our day which we set up inside the church hall as the weather was supposed to be rain however it managed to stay dry. We all had a great time, plenty of food and all the leftover food was taken straight after to two homeless charities, so nothing went to waste. It took a lot of planning and teamwork for it all to come together on the day
