Meet our Trustees this #TrusteesWeek! Introducing Paul Hill

👋 Meet Paul Hill, one of our Trustees whom we are showcasing this #TrusteesWeek!

Paul has been a trustee at SAVS for almost 3 years! Born in London, he grew up in Sierra Leone working as a relief Manager. After some travelling around Australia, Paul spent 30 years in the Fire Service and retired as the Assistant Chief Officer in 2016

He has a wealth of experience and knowledge behind him, helping 7 Home Start Charities to merge, was responsible for Programmes and Grants for Essex Community Foundation and started working for the Local Authority, Police and Health as their Safeguarding Partnership Manager in 2019.

On a typical day, Paul attends meetings, training and reviewing Partner’s structures, governance, guidance and policy around the services they provide to children and vulnerable adults. One of the difficult parts of his Safeguarding role is reviewing circumstances when someone dies or suffers harm as a result of abuse or exploitation; learning lessons and ensuring that learning is embedded.

As well as kindly donating his time to SAVS as one of our Trustees, he is also a Trustee at CAST. On top of all of this, Paul volunteers every Sunday (Mar-Nov) teaching people how to ride their motorcycle safely on the road and advanced machine skills at Wethersfield Airfield.

With what little spare time there is left, he loves touring the UK and Europe on his Ducati Multistrada with friends and sometimes with his wife. Paul also enjoys spending time with his wonderful family which includes his wife and daughter who both teach at different primary schools and his community-focused son who is a firefighter.
