Music Mentoring project

Music Mentoring project

We run a Music Mentoring project, prioritising 1:1 work with 11-18 year olds.
We show youngsters how to write and record new songs whilst providing each of them with a
positive role models.

We also have added street art to our project and offer street art sessions for those who would benefit more from visual art and colours.

There are currently 4 of us on the team, mentoring up to x20 young people a week.
Evidence shows our sessions boost confidence, help youngsters express themselves and empower them to seek further education or work.

We specialise in 1-1 sixty minute sessions over a 12 week period when young people not only complete songs but can also complete a Level 1 Qualification.
We also run weekly ‘Creative Hub’ group music sessions and one off Songwriting Workshops.

One of our young people who was referred due to possible risk of offending, recently shared ‘these sessions keep me out of trouble’. Another, who is struggling with bereavement, just completed his Level 1 qualification and is about to finish his first recording. He ‘loves sessions’ and it’s providing a safe space for him to express himself.

We prioritise youngsters with additional needs, including poor mental health, anxiety, SEN, risk of exclusion/offending and loneliness.
We currently run sessions in Shoebury High, and host youngsters at our studios in Thorpe Bay and Shoebury.

If a young person/s you’re working with would benefit from this project please get in touch and/or fill in a referral form directly from our website here – www.musicmentoring.live
