Parent and Child Domestic Abuse Recovery Worker – 37.5 hrs per week

(plus occasional evening and weekend)


Safe Steps are looking to recruit additional staff to its services for survivors of domestic abuse in the borough of Southend and Essex

This exciting role within our Fledglings Service is based within our refuge and community locations, supporting children and their non-abusing parent to recover from their experiences of domestic abuse.

You will have a keen interest in working with children, young people and parents and experience working with vulnerable client group, domestic abuse, parenting or direct work with children, this role is a great opportunity to develop your experience into a specialism within our experienced team. You should have some knowledge or completed some research around the dynamics of domestic abuse and the impact on children, even if no experience working directly within this sector. In depth knowledge of child development, attachment and impact of trauma would be desirable.

This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and open to women only. Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR), Schedule 9 (Work; Exceptions), Part 1 (Occupational Requirements) of the Equality Act 2010 applies.

Salary: Further information upon request, but subject to qualifications and relevant  experience- up to £22,462 per annum

Annual Leave:  25 days per annum
