15 Dec Safe Steps completes 16 Days of Activism training
From 25th November to 10th December, it was the international campaign, 16 Days of Activism. Throughout this time, organisations across the world were petitioning for change and to raise awareness of the prolific issue of violence against women and girls. Our team at Safe Steps, along with our teen service, Break the Cycle, contributed to this cause by providing a series of interactive and informative workshops to professionals in Southend. The training covered an overview of domestic abuse, how to spot the signs and how to get the people you are supporting the right help. It also covered abuse in teen relationships, the impact of domestic abuse on children and domestic abuse and older victims.
We had a great turnout from staff at local schools and colleges, Essex Police, charities, NHS, Southend Borough Council and many more, and we received positive feedback about how helpful these sessions were. It was a great opportunity for us all to get to know each other better; we can achieve so much when working together!
In the new year, we will be running more training sessions so keep an eye on our social media pages and website: www.safesteps.org.
