South East and Central Essex Mind Appoint New CEO

In recognition of Mental Health Awareness Week this week, South East and Central Essex Mind is pleased to announce the appointment of their new CEO, Caroline Grant.

Caroline said “Mental Health Awareness Week gives us the opportunity to focus on our community and how we should all take a moment to think about how we can support those in our lives who may be experiencing mental health problems, particularly since the onset of the pandemic and the new challenges that has brought to so many people. As the new CEO of a local charity providing key mental health services, it has given me the opportunity to re-evaluate our organisation, re-define our aims and objectives and move forward with a clear plan for the future of mental health services at Mind in South East and Central Essex working with a fantastic team of staff and volunteers to provide the best possible service for the community.”

SECE Mind is a local independent mental health charity provides high quality services and training across Chelmsford, Castle Point, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea and South Woodham Ferrers including counselling, supported housing and Mental Health First Aid Training. This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 10th until 16th May and aims to raise awareness, challenge stigma and start conversations around mental health. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health issue in their lifetime and after a long and difficult year, taking care of mental health and wellbeing is more important than ever.

During this week, SECE Mind are holding a free forest bathing session for local residents and hosting online mental health training sessions, as well as sharing content on social media.

Although affiliated with the well known national charity ‘Mind’, South East and Central Essex Mind do not receive funding from them and rely entirely on fundraising and kind supporters to help run vital local services.

If you would like to show your support for your local mental health charity during this important week you can donate £5 by texting SMIND to 70085 or visit seandcessexmind.org.uk

South East and Central Essex Mind is registered as a charity in England and Wales (1148451).
