18 Oct Southend in Sight organises drop-in sessions
The charity is pleased to announce that their Southend in Sight centre at 117 Hamlet Court Road is open every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12.30pm for general sight loss advice with volunteers Jackie and Clare, to welcome anyone who would like to chat to others living with sight loss.
Both volunteers have a visual impairment and between them know a great deal about navigating sight loss, from the best talking books, to uncluttered restaurants with clear menus. They are happy to help anyone who drops in to see them, and if they don’t know the answer, they will investigate and find out.
There is no need to book an appointment, you can just turn up. On the last Friday of every month, the drop-in session covers all things technical – smartphones, tablets, and laptops – with volunteers Steve and Paul.
Southend in Sight’s CEO, Lucy Martin says “We are pleased to reintroduce this much-needed service and we look forward to welcoming anyone living locally with sight loss for a chat one Wednesday soon”.
