Southend Sanctuary – Appeal for homely donations

Southend Sanctuary – Appeal for homely donations

We are thrilled that CAST are providing accommodation to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Southend on sea as a response to the deadly  covid -19 pandemic.  Since May, this year we have housed 25 people and are now increasing our bed space to prepare for winter.

With continued lockdowns we expect several British nationals working in Europe losing their jobs and returning home and are to fail the habitual residence test and are likely to be homeless for the first three months of arrival.

Due to the Covid -19 pandemic CAST were able to move quickly, easily, think quickly and intelligently to find a solution for homeless people in Southend who do not have recourse to public funds (NRPF).

As our respond and adopt programme, CAST has opened a 21-bed accommodation – Southend Sanctuary to house people who are not allowed to claim benefits. This includes refugees, asylum seekers, EU nationals and British nationals who often fail the habitual residence. Most of them have been frequently using winter night shelter over the past years in Southend.

We are appealing to the community for assistance to adopt and furnish a room. We are also appealing for the items stated below:
