Supporting the LGBTQ+ community in their relationships – Safe Steps

Supporting the LGBTQ+ community in their relationships – Safe Steps

On Saturday 25th February it was the fun and fabulous Southend Winter Pride. We were there and had a great day getting to know our community. Our Break the Cycle team also came along and had many conversations with young people in the LGBTQ+ community to help them in their relationships. Abuse from family members, friends and people in the community can sometimes not be recognised as abuse, especially if the abuse is based on orientation or gender identity.

We provide support by listening, answering questions and never discriminating. It was great to reinforce this positive message and we hope you all had a happy pride. We were also proud to show our support during LGBTQ History Month and help spread the message that love is love. If you or someone you know is LGBTQ+ and is experiencing domestic abuse, we are here for you. www.safesteps.org.
