The One Love Project receives donation from local finance organisation

Southend-based charity, The One Love Project have received a donation of £500 from local finance business Fi911.

Representatives from the Fi911 team volunteered at The One Love Project’s soup kitchen service in January 2023, where they were able to get involved in a variety of support activities for local people experiencing homelessness, poverty, mental health issues and addiction. The team were impressed with the project’s efficient operation at their location on the Hollybrook Homes site behind the Civic Centre in central Southend-on-Sea, and nominated the charity as their ‘Charity of the Month.’

The £500 donation has been used by The One Love Project to purchase a pallet of discounted fresh food for their foodbank service, which supports people in the city of Southend-on-Sea struggling to afford food, toiletries and other supplies.

Sharon Yavuz, Chair of The One Love Project says: ‘we are very grateful to the Fi911 team not only for coming down and offering their time, but for providing the much-needed financial support to help our service continue for those in need across the city. This money will go towards providing many people and communities with food and meals who would otherwise be unable to afford it.’

Carla, a member of the Fi911 team who volunteered with the charity said ‘it was a pleasure spending time with The One Love Project Team. I would like to thank them for welcoming us with open arms as well as helping our community. If only the world was full of more people like them!’

The One Love Project aims to improve the quality of life for those experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health and poverty by meeting individual basic needs through the provision of food and clothing, and a safe and non-judgemental space via weekly soup kitchens, outreach and food bank services.
