12 Nov Weekly Update from Welcome to the UK
Welcome to the UK, the Southend based charity helping families with English as a second language integrate into their community has been very busy this week. They have been meeting with several local organisations to see how they can work in partnership to improve the medical and mental health knowledge of as many people as possible.
In particular they met with Home-Start Essex who work with families experiencing challenges including social isolation, poor mental or physical health, child behaviour issues/school readiness and financial worries. There are many people that Welcome to the UK believes can benefit from what Home-Start Essex offers.
They also had a visit from Healthwatch, a local group helping people access health and social care services. The goal here is to educate people who Welcome to the UK works with to understand what health care services are available to them. So watch this space for more educational workshops and support from Welcome to the UK.
