Welcome to the UK to become Hate Crime Ambassadors

The team at Welcome to the UK are going to become Hate Crime Ambassadors. A hate crime is when an offender shows hostility based on race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or transgender. We are due to receive some training from Essex Police – Southend District in the New Year and then anyone in our community, not just our families from overseas who we support, can come to talk to us about being a victim.

Welcome to the UK was also featured in the Southend Echo this week. The newspaper covered the story that we are going to receive some funding from The National Lottery Community Fund so we are excited about expanding and helping more people.

At the SAVS networking brunch, it was great to meet lots of people from different community groups. Thank you SAVS for inviting us; we are always so happy to network and get to know people in our community. And finally, if anyone, needs any donations to keep warm this winter, then please come to see us in the Victoria Shopping Centre. We would like to extend this offer to anyone who is in need, not just the people who we support.
